Quarantine Mystery Quilt Finish!!

Or Everything But The Kitchen Sink as I like to think of it! I finished it the day before yesterday..after many sweaty hours of unpicking...re-attaching..and then unpicking! But finally it was done! I did make one small change to the middle block..
I wasn't loving the finally mystery quilt block release. I just felt like with the one larger star motif in the middle, that mine needed something to stand out...so after flipping through all my quilt books, I found the perfect block in Lori Holt's Vintage Christmas Quilt book.
I feel like the quilt is growing on me now that I've had a few days to ponder over it. I was really close to throwing it in the trash after the 400th time of unpicking a section...it wasn't my finest moment.  But I think once I have it quilted, the memory of those final moments will be a far memory, and I will fall in love with my quilt;)

Pink Hill Manor ~ Finished!

I finally finished Pink Hill Manor by Black Bird Designs!! I absolutely love how it turned out! This is block four in the Anniversaries of the Heart Series and is dedicated to my maternal grandparents Roy and Evon. I'm stitching them all together on a piece of 35 count Sand Edinburgh linen with various threads.

I get asked a lot for my thread conversion...I did use some of the called for threads, but the ones I changed, I'll list here:

Called for CC Cinnamon Toast - Used GAST Old Brick
Called for CC Jakey Brown - Used WDW Sanguine
Called for CC Onion Skin - Used WDW Pelican Grey
Called for CC Peanut Brittle - Used DMC 758
Called for CC Sunkissed - Used DMC 224  *Except for the house windows, these were done with DMC 3864
Called for GAST Portabella - Used DMC 645
Here are my sweet blocks all together! I just love how they look together!! Now I get to start the Farmhouse block #5 and begin the second row! Yay!

Still More Scrappy Blocks ~ Mystery Clue 12 & 13

The Mystery blocks continue onward with repeats on both clues 12 and 13.  I was able to dig down into my scrap bin and found some old fabrics...so that was a nice trip down memory lane.
Then this morning clue 13th released and, because I had lots of pieces already cut out from previous blocks the four that was required...went together super fast! We are down to the last few clues and there is talk in the group, that the final clues will be released quicker than they have been...I really hope that they do! I'm ready to put this one together and move onto my next project!

Mystery Quilt Update ~ Clue 10 and 11

I meant to post my block updates a couple of days back! I got a little busy kitting up new cross stitch projects and adding binding to a few quilts.
Clue #10 was a repeat of a previous clue, luckily though we only had to make four! I had about half of the HST squares already finished from an earlier clue, so finishing these was a snap!
Clue #11 was also a previous clue and we've done variations of the same block a few other times. I was running out of navy fabric and my bestie Reitha said she had some she could send my way.  So she did a porch drop! She left her scraps behind and took home a case of homemade canned goods from my garden!

Clue #12 finally released this morning and it's also a repeat of a previous block...so I'll be back to show you when it's finished! (I think it'll go really fast, because I have a lot of leftover pieces from the early blocks)

We had an unexpected visitor this week arrive! This sweet hen has decided to hang out here on the farm.  My dad says she lives under his Lilac Tree.  She comes by twice a day and if there is no food out...she walks right up to the back door and peaks in! I hope she stays all summer!

Rainy Days are Perfect for Stitching!

I thought I'd just pop in and show my Pink Hill Manor house finish! I loved stitching that tiny pink house! I used Weeks Dye Works Sanguine and it gives it such a nice chic antique look. I still have a ways to go, but I'm hoping to have the full block finished the beginning of next week...it sure would be nice to move onto the Farmhouse block this month.
Yesterday I planted our pumpkins! Last year I had to sacrifice them to save the tomato plants from the dreaded Caterpillar Beatles. It broke my heart not to have real pumpkins in the Fall for decorating and carving. But I know what to look for now and will keep my eyes on the plants as they grow...wish me luck!

Mystery Quilt Update ~ Clue #8 and #9

Good Morning Friends! I hope you all had a great weekend! I thought I'd pop in and show my Mystery Quilt Blocks aka Everything But The Kitchen Sink Quilt! Clue #8 was a repeat of an earlier block. There are 16 of these now and I believe (based on pictures I've seen on fellow participants design walls) they will form a ring around the quilt.
Just a little side view. It's been a lot of fun digging through my scrap bin and you would think it was starting to get less and less...but I actually feel like it's growing!
I was late in working on my Clue #8 blocks and finished just as the 9th Clue was released! These went together really quickly...it also helped that I already had the HST leftover from an earlier clue!
I couldn't leave without showing you my Snowball bush.  The blooms are gorgeous this year!

Mystery Quilt Clue #7 ~ Update

Late yesterday I was able to finally finish Clue  #7! This one is a repeat of a previous clue. I'm really trying not to fall behind on this one..because if I do, I'll never finish and it'll end up in the dreaded WIP pile!

I'm really enjoying digging through all of my scraps and I really hope in the end, my quilt will look awesome! That's the downside of a mystery quilt...you never know what it'll look like in the end!
I also couldn't resist a quick trip to the garden center that's near my house! I just love all these blooms!

Project Update ~ May 2020

I thought I'd pop in and give a little update on some of the cross stitching projects that I've been working on! I'm really trying to be better about posting, so far..so good!
So first up is Queen of Freedom by Mirabilla! I'm happy to report that the stitching part is complete! This picture was taken on Friday when I was working on my newest Flosstube Video.  Tonight I'll start beading her! My goal is to have her completely finished by Memorial Day! She's being stitching on 32 count Vintage Sahara with the called for everything.
Next up is...My Anniversaries of the Heart Series! I started stitching Pink Hill Manor by Blackbird Designs. I'm stitching the entire series on one piece of 35 count Sand with a variety of threads. I plan on adding my maternal grandparents names to this particular block.
I had a brand new start last week! This is Autumn on Lazy Bear Mountain by Kathy Barrick! I'm stitching it with GAST and a few DMC Threads on 40 count Vintage Country Mocha.
I've decided to work on a seasonal stitch on Fridays..and for now that will be Autumn on Lazy Bear! I'm so enjoying working on this one!  For now that's all the stitchy update..but you can always watch my Flosstube Video to hear more about everything! Everything But The Kitchen Sink ~ Clue #5 and #6: Update

I'm back! 2 blog posts back to back! Yesterday I managed to get 2 clues done for the Mystery Quilt my small quilt group is doing! It did help that I had most of Clue #5 cut out and it just needed to be assembled..but progress is progress! This is not the block formation in the mystery quilt, I just put it like this for a picture;)...
Clue #6 went together pretty fast! I only had to make 4! Such a nice break..Again, this is not the block formation in the quilt. I only put them like this to snap a picture.  I believe these blocks will go up in the corners of the quilt, next to the corner stones...or kitty-corner to the corner stones...if that makes sense;)

I believe I have a few days before the next clue is released.  Which is great because I have some face masks to make for my dad and us. As well as some other things I want to work on..so I'll be back to share!
